Rabies vaccine is recommended for those traveling in rural areas or working with animals.
Do not swim in fresh water aside from chlorinated swimming pools to avoid schistosomiasis.
Other disease risks include filariasis, leptospirosis, measles and plague.
Visa Information:
Visas-on-Arrival are available at some airports and ports for private, temporary business or pleasure visits. Travel for other purposes requires the appropriate Indonesian visa before arrival. Visas-on-Arrival are valid for 30 days and cost U.S. $25. Journalist visas are available and should be obtained in the journalist’s home country based on regulations by the local Indonesian Embassy.
